8. Medical Appointments in Guernsey -Confidentiality

In line with current Data Protection regulations we would like to draw your attention to the following information:

If you would prefer to retain confidentiality around the reason for your medical appointment in Guernsey, you can bring your medical appointment letter to the Island Medical Centre instead of directly to the States Office. We will issue you a travel warrant which can then be taken to the States Office without revealing the reason for your appointment. The States Office can then book your medical appointment flights.

You may of course continue to take your letter to the States Office if you so wish, but you should be aware that this involves sharing of confidential personal information to non-medical personnel.

Many patients are unaware of this potential breach of their medical confidentiality and we wish to ensure that all patients have the right to make this choice for themselves.
